How It Works

During March 28 – April 12 teams head into the field for a 24-hour birding adventure.

Before their count, participants:

  • Gather pledges from friends, family, and supporters

  • Invite local businesses and community partners to join in

SUPPORT A TEAM

Back your favorite team of birders — or contribute to SEVAS programs overall.

Make a flat donation to a team or to SEVAS overall. Every dollar helps expand our work in conservation, education, and community engagement across Southeast Volusia County.

Why It Matters

Birdathon isn’t just a friendly competition — it fuels:

  • Habitat restoration

  • Conservation projects

  • Education and outreach

  • Community science

More birds counted = more support for birds and the places they need.

MEET THE 2026 TEAMS

    • Organize a team – two people or more, who can all bird together.

    • Give it a birdy name, choose a day for your outing, and plan your route to maximize bird counts.

    • Collect pledges/donations from sponsors: friends, family, coworkers, anyone!

    • Have fun and count bird species for up to 24 hours on your team’s big day!

    Most teams are happy take on new members. We’ll let you know what dates they are birding and connect you with a group.

    Upon payment, you will receive an e.mail receipt. Choose your pledge option:

    1. Flat Donation A flat Birdathon pledge is a one-time pledge, rather than a donation based on the number of birds seen.

    2. Pledge per Species To pledge a set amount of money for each bird species your team sees, email Robert at birdathon.sevasnsb@gmail.com. Some choose to pledge $1/bird!
