Southeast Volusia Audubon Society, P.O. Box 46, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32170;

Special Event from West Volusia Audubon

Field Trip for Monday, January 6, 2014.

A morning event and an afternoon event.

On Monday, January 6, 2014, West Volusia Audubon will be hosting a two part field trip day.  The morning event will be "Birding at Smyrna Dunes Park".  The afternoon event will be a Marine Discovery Center "Eco Boat Tour".

1. Our meeting place for Car Pooling to "Birding at Smyrna Dunes" will  be at the northeast corner of the DeLand Post Office parking lot on East New York Avenue (near the gas station).  Please arrive in sufficient time for us to get on the road by 8:00 AM.  We will be walking along the boardwalk, and the sands of the waterway, the inlet and the ocean.  If you will be traveling directly there, plan on meeting us in the Smyrna Dunes Park parking lot by 8:45 AM.  Birding will continue to around the noon hour.  Participant, as always, may leave as they wish.

2. Lunch:  Bring your own , or dine out.

3. The Marine Discovery Center is located at 520 Barracuda Blvd., New Smyrna Beach, which is the road to the north bridge.  Car pooling will not be as organized for this afternoon event, as it will be for the morning event, as some of the afternoon participant will already be in the area.  For those interested in carpooling to this afternoon event, please call me, Eli, at 407-314-7965.  I will be the "Ride Arranger".  The cruise will depart at 2:00 PM and return to port at 4:00 PM.

This is how the Eco Boat Tour  works.  With 10, or more persons, each will pay $20.  For this discount, West Volusia Audubon is required to pay the total amount for our group with a single check, about 45 minutes before the 2 PM departure.   I am required to e-mail our participant list to the Center on January 3, 2014.  Last minute participants are permitted, but early RESP to me is encouraged.  This Eco Boat Tour has always been one of our most popular field trip.

We almost have enough participants to get the discount for the boat trip.  If you plan to go and have not, please RSVP to Eli.
 This should be a great outing.   Eli Schaperow      407-314-7965
