Dan Gribbin, Halifax River Audubon; Board Member At-Large
Program: Shorebird Breeding Islands: The Young and the Restless
Bio: After retiring from college teaching in Virginia, Dan Gribbin and his wife Martha moved to the Daytona Beach area in 2001. In August 2008, Dan began photographing shorebirds when a pair of Black Skimmers nested on the beach near his home in Daytona Beach Shores. Not long after that, Dan developed a technique for producing shorebird note cards on matte paper. He set himself a lifelong goal of making available to friends, family, fellow birders, and fellow Unitarian Universalist church members, the most beautiful shore bird note cards available anywhere. In addition to selling these cards to his well-heeled friends, he donates them free to children at the Halifax River Audubon booth at various birding festivals and conservation events. Dan is a board member of Halifax River Audubon and occasionally entertains the group with live performances of original songs from his three CDs. If you haven’t heard his song “We’re Sandhill Cranes with Half-filled Brains,” you just haven’t lived.
